Where to Look For Scholarships

Today we’re talking scholarships. Here are two places where you should look to find scholarships:

One is from the college itself. Based on the strength of your application, like your essays, grades, and scores, maybe your extracurricular activities as well, the college might think, “This student is going to get into other schools that are our competition, so we’re going to compete for that student and offer them some free money to choose us instead of a different college.”

You might also start digging through the college’s financial aid website where you’ll find other scholarships that you may be able to proactively apply for based on things like your major, maybe the honors college, or whatever other criteria you might meet.

Then there’s what’s called third-party scholarships. You and the college are in a two-party relationship; but a third party—like maybe where your parents work, or your high school, or your town, or the team you’re on, or a club you’re in—might also be willing to offer scholarships.

So leave no stone unturned, start researching, and start working, because applications for these scholarships roll all year round. And if you have more questions about where to look for scholarships, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at 732-556-8220. We are here to help.
