I am literally begging families to please stop focusing exclusively on Ivy League colleges. Everywhere…
Show Colleges Your Demonstrated Interest
Today we’re talking about an important piece of the college admissions puzzle at many colleges that most students tend to overlook, and that’s demonstrated interest.
That’s how you show a college that you are specifically interested in their school and, if they accept you, you’re likely to enroll. Colleges need to hit their numbers to fill their freshman class, and they don’t want to waste an invite on someone who’s not going to accept them back. So, some easy ways you can demonstrate your interest are:
Go for a visit, either virtually or in person. Meet one of their representatives at your local college fair, or if they come to your school to talk to students during lunch. In the age of big data, you can follow them on social media, you can open their emails, you can click through in those links.
And probably the best way to demonstrate your interest is to write an essay that tells them why you’re interested in their college, especially if that’s the essay they request.
And if they ask you why you’re interested in your major, you can always pivot that into why their college is the best place for you to major in it. So get going, and if you have more questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us at 732-556-8220.
