Navigating College Ranking Lists

Today we’re talking about college ranking lists.

August 1st is coming, and that’s when most college applications open. So ideally, you want to finish your college search and bring down your list to about five to ten colleges by then.

And it can be a challenge because there are so many ranking lists out there telling you this college is better than that college: there’s U.S news, there’s this guy, there’s the Princeton Review. And let me tell you something… colleges have figured out how to juice their numbers and move up in rank. Also, some of these lists are just including colleges that are willing to send them the data; and is that what makes a college best?

So — yes — it’s an honor to be nominated and if a college is on a list of best programs for your major that’s something to consider, but it doesn’t matter if they’re number three versus number seven — it really doesn’t — we’re splitting hairs here.

At the end of the day you want to find a college that is best for you, not necessarily everyone in the country. A college where you’re going to thrive academically, intellectually, culturally, and socially.

So go visit those colleges, see which ones are best for you, and if you need help don’t hesitate to reach out to us at 732-556-8220. We are here to help.
