Common App is Open! Now What?

August 1st means the Common App is open! This is a great time to get to work on specific parts of your school’s applications for the colleges on your list. Some schools will be late, but most are right on time.

Often colleges will offer “rolling” admissions and the sooner you apply, the sooner you’ll find out if you’re accepted and have a better chance of getting in. This is also the time to start searching for the school’s specific supplemental essays. These essays can be seen in the “writing” section of the application, but some are hidden in the “question” section. Most of the questions are between 200-400 words and they are considered essays.

In these sections, you’ll get the most common questions like, “Why our college?”, “Why this major?” or about extracurricular activities. Some of these questions may populate dynamically based on your major or a school within a school you’re applying to. Be sure to check each section and click through these applications for more opportunities
