5 Reasons NOT to Let ChatGPT Write Your College Essays

Today I want to give you five reasons not to use ChatGPT to write your college application essays.

AI writing tools are more accessible than ever and the temptation is real to just copy and paste that prompt in, let it spit a few grammatically correct sentences out, and then submit that as part of your college application; but there are some problems.

First, your essay is going to be boring; it’s going to be lacking in details and the reader is not going to get to know the real you.

Second, your sentences are going to be the same length which is a real tell to the reader this was written by AI and not by a student.

Third, your essay is going to sound the same as everybody else’s — who all had the same bad idea to let AI write it instead of doing it themselves — and it’s going to put you into the scrap heap of rejected students.

Fourth, because the college admissions process is opaque, you’ll never know why you got rejected, and you’ll always know you could have done better.

And fifth, if you cheat your way into a college by letting AI write your essay you might not be able to handle the level of academic rigor once you get there and you might flunk out.
