Should You Do Work Study?

Today we are discussing Work Study, a job you have in college while you’re enrolled. Federal Work Study specifically is federal dollars given to your college to employ you based on what you filled out in your FAFSA and you’ll see those dollars in your reward letter.

These jobs can range from mopping floors, serving food, to checking ID badges, or giving tours, all the way up to working in a professional office filing papers and answering phones. If you’re going to work a job during college Work Study is the way to go because number one, you have a boss who views you as a student first. When you have exams coming up or a big project due, your boss will prioritize your education.

Number two, you’re building a professional résumé. When you apply for jobs after college, you have experience and a boss who’s willing to write you a letter of recommendation and be one of your references. And number three, when you work on college that is your focus and life and you’re most likely to graduate on time. It’s a big cost-saver and it’s going to get you a kickstart on life.
