How & Why to Finish SATs Junior Year

Today we’re talking about your testing timeline. You should plan to take the SAT at least 2 times, 3 times is also totally fine, and that’s because most colleges will put together your best reading/writing score and your best math score, even if they’re from different dates. So by testing 2-3 times, you can put your best foot forward by maximizing your Superscore.

Now if you’re in 11th grade, there are only 3 SATs left this school year. So your plan should be to take the March 8th SAT, then the May 3rd SAT. That way, if you need a third and final test, you can take the June 7th SAT and be finished this school year.

The SAT is built for 11th graders, and summer is time for you to shift gears and work on your next project which is college essays and applications. And it’s a lot harder to do your best work on that project if you’re also focused on prepping for the August or October SATs going into senior year. So please trust me a little bit, I’ve seen this before. Avoid the senior summer stress.
