One question I get from parents is asking if they qualify for the FAFSA, and…
Filing Your CSS Profile Before FAFSA!?
Hey, guys! It’s Eric at Solution Prep; and we have a problem.
Typically the FAFSA — that’s the Free Application for Federal Student Aid — opens on October 1st, and I spend all of October helping families fill out their FAFSA; followed immediately by their CSS profile — the College Scholarship Service — an additional financial aid application only required by some colleges.
This year, 2023, because the FAFSA will be all new, they’ve bumped it to sometime in December so they have time to get it ready. But some colleges still want the CSS profile on time; could be November 1st, November 15th, or December 1st — ahead of the FAFSA.
So I put a link in the description to this video.
Click it to see if any of your colleges are also on that list requiring the CSS profile for domestic students. If so, call those colleges and ask if they require the CSS profile now — ahead of the FAFSA. And if so, get to work on that at collegeboard.org, today. That’s the same website where you register for the SAT and check your AP scores. So you’re going to use your student’s same username and password as you always do. Get going!
