Make the Most of College Reps at School

The college reps are coming!

Fall is travel season for college admissions reps; so in addition to attending college fairs in the evening, they might also be visiting high schools during the daytime to meet students, and they might be coming to yours. So check with your guidance department for a calendar of which college reps are coming on which dates and make sure to attend the ones you’re interested in.

You can go talk with them during your lunch period or you can get a note from a teacher to miss a class if that’s when the college is there.

Now, this is your chance to get answers to the questions you’ve been dying to know, but it’s also your chance to demonstrate interest and show the college that you’re seriously interested in them and if they accept you, you’re more likely to attend.

Also, your rep — who you’re meeting with — might be the first person reading your application and your essays, and when they have a face to put with a name they’re more likely to remember you — because they can’t accept everybody applying from your high school — so they’re more likely to accept the person they know, the person they met, and that can be you.

Also, if a college asks why this college, you can include the meaningful encounter you had with their rep in your essay, and other colleges might just ask what encouraged you to apply, and you can check that box where applicable.

So get going! If you have questions, call us at 732-556-8220. We are here to help.
